After much testing with XP I finalised the production build to be used on our network. I now need to reset the permissions on the registry and HDD back to default. I thought I could use Partition Magic 7 to convert the volume back to NTFS and then re-convert FAT32 to NTFS. Partition Magic is failing to convert. Reinstallation is not an option. Can anyone think of another way to reset the permissions to default on an NTFS volume?

what do you mean by ' reset the permissions to default on an NTFS volume?' (you can access properties for drive and from security tab set what you want - including having child objects inherit) - but don't really know what you mean.
