I'm not sure if this is the correct forum, so I apologize in advance. I am using IE 5.5 and 6 with the pre-filled field option on for logins. Somehow, some fields no longer prompt me with a login if I put the cursor at the leftmost side of the field and am wondering if there is a way to make it prompt me to save the login again. I recall one can do this by clearing ALL the login and password fields but that's a bit too drastic. Is there a way to do this?

There is a very nice utility “AutoWhat?” to edit AutoComplete entries, that are stored when filling out forms in Internet Explorer. Neil J. Rubenking, Contributing Technical Editor of PC Magazine, has developed this little program. It can be downloaded as a ZIP file (1,266 KB) after registration free of charge from the following URL:

or

This utility allows editing, deleting and adding individual AutoComplete entries.

Description (excerpt cited from Readme.txt)

Internet Explorer 5 and later has an AutoComplete feature to speed the process of filling in Web-based forms. If this feature is turned on, each time you submit data in a form, the information is encrypted and stored on your local machine. The next time you encounter a form that has a field with the same internal field name, IE will help you complete that field. As soon as you type a letter that matches the beginning of any recorded value for that field, IE will display a list of possible values from which you can choose. To see all saved values, press the down arrow.

The Internet Options applet in Control Panel lets you turn AutoComplete on and off, and clear all recorded data. It doesn't, however, let you clear form fields selectively or view the stored data. This issue's utility, AutoWhat? 2, fills the gap. With AutoWhat? 2 you can view the values stored for each input field name, delete incorrect ones, and pre-load the system with additional values. AutoWhat? was originally released as a PC Magazine Extra utility in November 1999.

I have tried this program: installation takes only some minutes and it works very well. Many thanks to Neil J. Rubenking and PC Magazine! The AutoComplete data are not stored in History, but rather as encrypted data in Registry.
