Hi,
Has anyone of you tried to reset all the passwords for notes clients? Here's our problem: An employee left our department and we are worried that he might do something that is not "so nice". We want to be able to secure the mail server and clients by resetting the passwords since he was the one who setup our mail server. He has a copy of all the users' main password (the ones we used while creating the user id's). he probably has the admin password and probably a copy of the cert. id. and he has notes admin installed on his machine. What is the easiest way f blocking his access to other people's accounts? Is resetting the passwords on the server possible?
Need help ASAP.

Is the employee still with the company or gone altogether?

If he's still around, change the admin password and drop his settings in the ACL to author or below (depending on how your company operates).

If he's gone, still change the admin password and move him to the terminated employees group.

It seems unreasonable to me to ask all of your employees to change their passwords simply because you think he might have ill intentions. However, good IT policy dictates that you force employees to change password periodically.

Incidentally, changes to the ACL are logged so you will know if anyone tampers with it. "One fish, two fish,

Red fish, blue fish."

Is there a way to reset a notes password from the Domino server's admin login if you do not know what the clients password was?

The way I handle users that forget their passwords, is to re-register them, which creates a new ID file and .nsf file. This will not work if they encript their mail. First, I print out their Personal Document, then re-register them. While re-registering them, I type in a different .nsf file, so not to blank out their currect e-mail .nsf file. After I finish re-registering them, I delete the newly created e-mail .nsf file (which should be empty), PLUS go into their Personal Document and change the e-mail .nsf file back to the original e-mail .nsf file (this is why I print out their information).
Sounds like a round-about way, but it works.
If you have any questions concerning this, please let me know.
