We have bought a used BCM 200 R3.5 that we cannot access through the LAN ports. IP phones do work, so I'm thinking the IP firewall is blocking all other traffic. I assume I will have to perform a level 2 reset to gain access to this unit, but I can't find anything in the docs that describes how to do this. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

There is no Level 2 reset on the BCM 200 Rls 3.5. Do you know the IP address of LAN 1 and LAN 2?

You can connect to the Serial port 9600, 8, n, 1 using something like Hyper Terminal, You need the USER NAME and PASSWORD though. You could try the default password as most users don't change them. They don't like us to give of Passwords on this forum, but if you have the Docs, it's in there.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

If you know the IP address us a crossover cable to connect your Laptop. Firewall shouldn't effect it.

Have you tried the default passwords?

We've already tried both LAN ports with known good crossover cables and can't communicate at all. Never get to the login screen. I tried pinging the IP's and get no response. The only thing that the LAN port responds to is an IP set, which is why I think the IP firewall must be turned on, but since I can't get to the GUI there's no way to check. Weird problem I've never seen before. I may get desperate and pull the hard drive to see if I can flush out the problem.

The firewall MUST be on.

I think i'm beginning to see why that unit went on the market.....

Re-image that drive to 3.7. You'll lose all vm and ip programming, but the telephony will remain intact.

When you go in though the serial port, do you get the LOGIN screen and if so can you login?

MagnaRGP,

I knew we would run into issues like this when used BCMs started hitting the resale market. I'm thinking the same as you, just re-image the drive and be done with it.

acewarlock,

Yes, I can login through the serial port. I was rooting around in there today, but saw no option to turn off the firewall under services.

You can INI the BCM though the serial port if you can login and set it back to default, I have done it many times.
