As the administrator of our company, we keep a safe copy of all user id's of all our lotus notes users. This is quite handy as anytime a user forgets his/her password, we use the safe copy to get back into the account. Now I have a couple id files that are locked and need to be reset but I can't seem to get round this. The other alternative I can think of would be to delete the users and re-register them and then link them to their old database. I just wanted to know if it there was a procedure reset the accounts.

bfad,

You'll need to log into Notes and perform this under under two different IDs. Preferably the Lotus administrator ID and then your own if you are an administrator...

In Notes Administrator, do the following:
Go to the Configuration Tab
- Go to Tools
- Go to Certification
- Select "Extract Recovery Password..."
Locate and select the user ID you wish to recover (ex:"user1.id")
You will get a notification box with a recovery password.
You'll need to record this password.
**Now, do the same steps under another ID and record the next recovery password.

All you have to do now is try to log in to that ID file. You'll click on recover password and then enter the two recovery passwords separately. You'll then be prompted to choose a new password.

Hope this Helps!
