i am not very knowledgeable about novell but anyway here is my problem. i have a small business net work. 1 dedicated file server and 4 work stations using winows 98. i am running novell netware 5. i needed to reset time on file server so i did in server: not nwserver: and now after reboot i cannot logon to server from any work station. i get these messages:

data base cannot open

unable to get distinguished name from server

nldap: cannot create nds context in getservercontext

no time zone

xfsvga unloaded

nldap: server cannot be configured another configuration
will occur in 2 minutes

please help

Please explain exactly what you did to "reset time". It is not clear what you did.

Hi

Sounds like the errors are from more than changing the time. You may have a problem startup ncf file or more than one on your C: drive.
Check that you start your server from the C:\nwserver and not any other directory, if you dont have this folder than try a cold boot of your server and then it will use your auotexec.bat and hopefully load it for you.
What I am trying to say is that I think you have an old startup file from the old 3.x or 4.x days which should not be used.
Post more info if you still need help and I am sure "the Lad" and others can help you out.

Good luck

Dave

I agree with Dave, if this server was upgraded, you might be trying to load the old 3.X files instead of the newer 5.X files. Also, if you changed the time, and went "back" in time, you'll probably have to declare a new NDS, er, eDirectory, epoch, unless the time change was small.
