I have an NEC 2000 IPS phone system. We are using Dterm phones. I heard there was a way to have them reintialize, and self test themselves for errors. Do you know what the proper sequence or keys would be for that?
Thanks for your help!

Unplug, count to 5, plug back in.
There is a lamp test sequence that I cannot remember off hand but all it does is test the LED colour and flash rate on each key.

I've been unplugging them, but someone told me that there was a reset test I could do. Sounds like it just makes sure the lights work, so it wouldnt help me. But thank you, for your help.

I have not tried this on the 2000, but on the Elite systems if you hold * and # when plugging in the extension it will enter a test mode. This test mode will test all the buttons, LED's, and ringers for the phone. It is a little confusing trying to determine which keys the mode wants you to press, but basically you simply press the key the display prompts for, and go through all the keys, then the phone reinitializes.

Okay I tried pressing and holding the * and # buttons and nothing much happens. :( My phone just keeps displaying the time and date. Any other ideas?
Thanks for the suggestion

I have tried this on an IPS and it does work. You have to unplug the phone and then plug it back in whilst holding down the * & # keys.

Okay, you all are right I apologize. :)
Apparently I can't plug and push buttons at the same time.
Thanks!
