reset select box from within an iframe?

hello,

I have multiple select boxes for tightening up the search criteria on my database. The results are displayed directly below them in an iFrame.

I need a way to reset any given selection, to remove that choice from the search criteria. This would appear in the iframe, but would need to call the select boxes in the parent section.

I cannot figure out the correct syntax and any help would be appreciated.
