Reset Power up passwordq

Anyone have any idea how to reset the power up password on a Compaq Armada E500 laptop. All of a sudden the power up password is coming up on a used machine I purchsed and I can't get past it.

If the MB does not have a jumper to clear the password, then remove the CMOS battery for 30 minutes before replacing it.
