Reset password on IP phone 1220 & 1230

I bought a bunch of used IP phones 1220 & 1230 but they are all password protected... Is there a way to execute a factory or back to default reset????

I found the **73639[MAC]## trick but it's not working as I don't know at which level of the boot sequence I must apply the code.

Could you please help...

You have to wait for the 12xx to complete the boot sequence before using the key sequence. The 12xx also has to be running C6E or later firmware.

Seems like firmware are not up to date.... How do I upgrade if I have do access to the phone.

I tried on a 1120 with firmware 0624C4D with the same problem

Thanks,,,,, you did answer my question on a different tread, I did try the color*set and it worked. My problem was in fact accessing the configuration menu.

..answering the other question. Upgrading of IP Phone firmware on a BCM is either done by installing an SU or - on Linux-based system - by having Nortel manually install for you.
