Reset BCM to Factory Default 1

I have a quick question. I have a BCM 1000 that I would like to reset to factory default - erase all configs, all VM, all keycodes, EVERYTHING.

Is there a way to do this?

Reimage the harddrive. Not sure tho if Nortel has a BIT tool for the BCM 1000.

Sorry...it is v3.7. Re-imaging means going in to the office. I have this bad boy set up for complete remote access (even the serial port) so I wouldn't have to be on site to work on it.

Maybe you can answer a question for me. I bought a DTM for it and entered the keycode but what came up said SL-1. The vendor said that they sent they got me the wrong keycode, but I would have to remove the wrong one. The only way I have found to remove a keycode is by resetting to default (from what I read).

Is this correct?

Correct. The only way to do that is by reimaging the HD via the BIT Tool. BCM 1000 doesn't allow u to do a level 2 reset like the BCM 50 does. Nortel might be able to help u out but it'll cost u.

You do not need a keycode for a DTM sounds like you got a MCDN keycode since you get the SL-1 prompt that is for a point to point T1/PRI. This will pass CLID and central VM.
You don't and can't remove it. Its been entered into the KRS system at Nortel.

Wow....that means a bunch of new issues to deal with

Since I am really paranoid about stuff, doing a re-image is n problem. When I got the 3.7, I took it out and made an image of it - bit for bit - so that if it crashed, I would have a back up. Looks like that was a good choice since now I can go back to what I had originally.

This is a used system and Nortel didn't even want' to talk to me; which is why I went with a vendor. Now I have to kill him for (what sounds like) selling me $1200 worth of keycodes that I don't need. Know a good lawyer (just kidding).

MCDN or SL-1 - which I researchd and found out stands for "Meridian Customer Defined Network" and SL-1 is a switch. So I guess this means that this keycode allows me to connect my BCM to another Nortel system like the SL-1 over a PRI or T1. If this is correct, then this is not what I want to do. I just want to hook up the 11 B channels in my PRI to my BCM.

Now, the reason I thought (and vendor verified) was that I needed a PRI keycode to make it work was because when I go into "Media Bay Modules --> Bus 3" it says "Programmed Bus Type = Trunk Module" and "Actual Bus Type = None".

However in "Diagnostics -- Trunk Modules --> Bus 3 --> Module 1" it identifies the card type as PRI.

I was told that I need to get a keycode to make this work. This is why I am seeing the info I described above.

Ok...I am at a loss now. Do I need a keycode to use PRI trunks? Then, how do I know that my DTM is working correctly?

The phones are running on Asterisk (which sucks), but I don't want to bring them down until I know this is working.

why not leave the keycode in the system. It won't harm anything.

It's good to know that it won't harm anything. However, I don't want to pay for something that I don't need and didn't want in the first place. I know in the PC world, you have to remove the software to be compliant in situations like these.

Now, I have moved my DTM to a different slot, but it still comes up as Bus 3 and Actual Bus Type = None. I am assuming that the Bus is determined by dip switch settings. However, since the BCM can't recognize this module, could it be bad?

Ok...some more info. I went into maintenance and did a module inventory.

here is what I found:

Code:
Time of Inventory: 07:50:28, May 25 2009
Media Bay Modules
Note: Combo MBMs are represented in the inventory as two individual MBMs. For example, the DSCOM32 appears as two DSCOM16s, while the 4x16 Combo MBM appears as a CTM4 and a DSM16.

    * DSCOM16, Bus 2 Slot 1, Enabled

    * CTCM, Bus 6 Slot 1, Enabled

That's it. Given that I have three modules (a 16 station module, a 4 line caller ID module, and a DTM), would this indicate that the DTM is bad or do I need a keycode to activate it? This is where this nortel stuff gets confusing.....

No keycode is required for a DTM. You do need to set the dipswitches for what ever bus u plan to use. System won't recognize the the DTM until u set the dips correctly.

Thanks for all the help! I was able to set all the DIP switches correctly, my 11 lines provisioned. With a little research, I was able to create a rudimentary call route and able to get CallPilot at least able to answer the call.

The point in the right direction helped and now I have to see if I can get some money back for a keycode that has nothing to do with what I am trying to accomplish.

Now...on to the CCR tree.....
