Hi,

We want to remove a server from a domain and then add it back in.

I noticve that there is a reset account option in add if you right click computer accounts. Would this be suitable in this scenario?

If so, what order would you do this,

reset account,
log onto server and put in workgroup,
then reboot and add back to domain?

Would this order be correct?

Thanks for any help

member server is just like a standard PC.

Sorry I can't be of much help. I have never done it, but from what I've read there's no harm in trying. [just done it to one of my computers. poor bugger].Effectively it supposed to do what you're asking, that is reset the account as to not loose it's SID, ACl's etc.
But other people also say that it did not work in there case and where forced to disjoin and rejoin.

It just basically resets the computer account to the default password. Same as if you prestaged a computer account prior to a machine joining you won't get the prompt to supply a account with credentials to join to a domain.
