I have set-up 3 reservations in total, in 'DHCP > Address lease' 2 show up as 'inactive' and only one as being 'active'why would this be? I did the same for all 3, MAC address, supported both types etc

It means they are not getting that address from the DHCP server. It could be a lot of reasons.. typo in the MAC address, not having the devices querying DHCP, etc.

I have 3 LAN cards in the server, 2 of which are disconnected, 1 is connected. I double checked that I had the correct MAC address for the enabled card but it still showed as inactive. In the end I decided to totally disable the 2 LAN cards that are not connected and it works straight away.

Now happy.

I think if you set a static IP in the NIC, then it will not show up as active since that device didn't request an IP from the DHCP server.
