I have server 2003 running DHCP reservations. Occassionally, a MAC will be dropped from the reservation list for no apparent reason. Has anyone else experienced this? It is happening to 3 different types of laptop, but all wireless.

Thanks

Tim

Hi

Never seen or herd of this happening. Could be one of your admins is deleting the entries so check that everyone that has rights that they know what they are doing. We have had a couple over the years who said they knew stuff and they did not.
One admin who I will call "Numb nuts" deleted all entries in the scope and then claimed it was not him.

Regards

Dave

It actually looks to me like an issue with the table. When I attempt to re-enter the MAC to the reservation, It pops an invalid address.

If that helps any.

Is the reservation really gone or just not showing? To test this, the reserved IP should not be given to the mac address/computer.

I have attempted to re-assign a different IP to that MAC, but get an error. The laptops in question will not connect to the network. It appears to me, like the reservation was removed, but still lingers in the table somewhere, preventing the MAC from being re-assigned.
