Hello Evryone!

Using Crsytal XI R2 and BusinessObjects XI R2 Enterprise.

We have lots of reports scheduled and last week because of the mail server reboots our reports failed to go out.And we got the smtp:SMTP_E_TCPSOCKET_OPEN(2)
We found out that it happened because of the server reboots.

I'm just a crystal person but do have access to CMC.
Is there anything i can do on my side or on my admin side.

I'm wondering is there a way i can set at any place if it fails try again after 1 hour or so.

Thank you for all your suggetions.

In the CMC for each RPT-Object under the SCHEDULE tab, you can adjust the settings for...

Number of retries allowed:
Retry interval in seconds:

If you set it to five (5) retries every three-hundred-and-sixty (360) seconds, it would try to run every hour for five hours until it had a success.

IMPORTANT : This will only effect Instances scheduled AFTER these settings are changed. Old Instances will need to be removed, rescheduled.

Thank You that's very good to know.
Is there a way to do this for a whole batch of reports.
This need to be done individually.

I'm not pointing out anything just making sure myself if it is a typo:
you mentiones retry interval second and 360 seconds is like 6 min,how does it try every hour.

can you confirm this.

Thanks Again

One more question

Is there way we can try sending them through a differrent server if the primary server id down.

Next Question:

I went into CMC and looked at the details.
If i scheduled the same report more than once like :
1. run daily
2. run monthly
Will i have options for both of those or one works for everything.

One more question:

I looked inside CMC and i can't see the information of the ones that i scheduled through ifoview.

You are right on the typo - should be three-thousand-six-hundred (3,600) seconds for the Hour.

You can change these settings for a "whole" batch of reports/instances by writing your own SDK application - or buying a 3rd party tool like APOS ObjectManager and InstanceManager.

I don't think there is any easy way to send them through a different SMTP e-mail server. The connection to the DESTINATION (SMTP) e-mail server is fixed on each Crystal Report Job server.

You might be able to use a DNS to redirect that "fixed" connection, but it would be outside of the BOE infrastructure set-up.

I'm not scheduling the reports through CMC ,i do them through Infoview ,Now how do i set this retrial options.

I have this report scheduled to go out everyday in infoview.
I got to CMC and goto the specspecific object and ,If i pick daily and say retry every hour what happens.

Thanks, MJRBIM. I have over 100 reports that I schedule and never noticed that retry option. What I have done is use the notification portion on the schedule tab in CMC to e-mail me when a job fails. The retry option will attempt to rerun the job based on the count and interval I choose before send me an e-mail only after it failed after the final attempt.

Raja2008,

The retry option is only available in CMC on the bottom of the screen when you click on the schedule tab.

Hai Everyone!

Thank You .My question is if i schedule the report in infoview and set the retry option in CMC will it work for that scheduled report.
And will this work for all the schedules on that objects,I men if i have ore than one schedules for the same report.

I am confused as to why you are using InfoView to schedule your reports?

Personally, I used CMC exclusively to schedule all reports that run on a regular basis similar to batch reports in a legacy system. Once it's set, I can basically forget it provided no changes have been made to the report.

InfoView is mainly used by my users to run on-line report queries where they are prompted to enter input parameters and then click OK to get the results.
