If you change your computer name (see Control Panel > System), Norton AntiVirus's automatic scan stops working. That's because the scheduled task is still set to the old computer name.
To fix this, open the set of scheduled tasks with Run > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Scheduled Tasks and check the properties. The task is set to run under the old name. My computer (Windows XP Home Edition) doesn't allow me to change this directly. Instead you have to create a new task - any task will do. Windows then prompts you to change the remaining scheduled tasks to run under the new computer name, which you accept. Norton AntiVirus's automatic scan will then schedule at the right time.
