Hi,

I'm stuck installing CAL onto a Win7 workstation, we have had this issue before, which was resolved by changing some form of compatibility setting??

During CAL install, it comes up stating (Installing Win32RES, Current Operation EXECANDWAIT, microsenv.exe)
In the background another window appears stating (Tool for setting System Environment Variable has stopped working)

Any ideas?

Thanks :)

Out of curiosity, are you running 32bit or 64bit windows, and are you running the latest CAL?

The laptop is 64bit I believe... not sure if it is the latest version of CAL, is there anywhere that I can download the latest (safe) version?

Thanks

I believe part of the program is that Micros was designed originally for 32bit and they did some stupid references at one point. Which version of Micros are you running? I know at one point they updated CAL to support flags that can tell the differences between the different platforms.

This is the newest version I have of CAL, which works just fine all the way up to Windows 8.1.

Thanks Moregelen, will give that a go this afternoon and let you know how it went.

We are currently running RES v5.2, Oracle tried updating us to 5.2 MR2 to fix some issues with our mTablets crashing, however that pretty much crashed our entire system, so Oracle had to manually revert the update as best they could.. We should be going up to v5.4 mid July.

Many Thanks

Be careful with 5.4. We use conversational ordering, which 5.4 just totally buggers up. A lot of our Macros also blew up on us when we upgraded to 5.4. I would suggest you lab it like we did and test EVERYTHING.

Thanks very very much for the download link, worked absolutely fine.
Will that version also work with a 32bit client?

With regards to RES 5.4, we use lots of Macros for changing Menu Level (2-10) for single items, then returning ML back to L1 for other full price items to be added to the same check.
Can I please ask what happened to your Macros, so I know what to look out for.
We are not likely to be able to test in a lab environment as time is very limited, we are very keen to get this update in ASAP before the summer season due to our mTablets sporadically crashing since they were new, mainly during payment receipt printing, they lock up and require restarting, which upon restart leaves the check still open, showing at £0.00, with no item sales posted. This then results in the tills being up in cash, or up in our Elavon merchant account as the Micros Payment Gateway transaction still goes through.... also affected is the stock, as it does not deplete Materials Control until we reprocess the sales (maybe days) after investigating each individual issue.. it's only taken Oracle over a year to 'hopefully' resolve this issue for us....![hairpull]

The biggest issue that caused us to put a full stop on the project was when we noticed that, at least with COM, if you ring in multiple items using the numpad it all rings in priced as a single item. That one just made the whole thing a no-go for us as we use it A LOT, and trying to tell nearly 800 stores they can't do that anymore is ... yeah, no.

So do you mean that it auto consolidates the same menu items on the check? just trying to get my head around what you mean, also what is COM?

Conversational ordering. Also yes, I failed to mention, that CAL package is 32bit so it will run fine on a 32bit machine.

What I meant is that if you hit 6, and then hit combo #1, it will ring in six combo ones. It will print that way in the kitchen. If combo #1 is $6.00, it will also only charge $6.00 instead of the expected $36.00. Again, this was only our conversational ordering items doing it.

Luckily we don't use conversational ordering... but do use a few combo meal options, so wondering if this will be affected... seems crazy, wonder if they have fixed this bug?..

We also use the numpad to select a macro multiple times, i.e. a macro that selects adds a meal cover charge and an entertainment ticket for a evening show.. hope this won't be affected :(
