Hi all, How do I configure my Micros RES 3700 to prevent the cash drawer from opening if the subtotal of the bill is $0.00?

Under employee classes "Transactions" "Transaction Control" There is a No sale check box.
You should not allow employees to do there own voids therefore without no sale they can not get a zero balance bill
There is also an option under devices to only open the till once full payment has been made.
Hope these help.

No sale is already unchecked, I actually recently unchecked that so that if the "Open Cash Drawer" button would prompt for auth from a manager.

Opening a check and closing it to cash without any menu items on the check is the workaround they found to pop the drawer without ringing in items. They don't even need to add items and void them to get the check to this state. Also they can't void items either.

^^^^You can disregard the above, I found the correct solution, detail below^^^^

Under "Employee Classes" > "Options" there's the checkbox "Close zero balance check". Unchecked that and they now can't close blank checks. It prompts for manager authorization with the message "Pay Zero Transaction
