Res 4.0 key and paperwork

I was wondering if there is any value ($) for a res 4.0 license key/dongle along with the disc's of the software and the original paperwork with all the access Codes for the various stuff Like Gift Certificate manager.

I am not selling this. I just want to know if I did ... is there any value.

I bought a system at an auction that came with res 4.0. I however am switching it to e7.

It depends on how many terminals the key is licensed for. It may be worth a few hundred bucks on eBay. But 4.x is no longer PCI compliant. Therefore it's value is substantially reduced. By the way, E7 is a big step down

Also, Micros will make whoever buys it pay a hefty relicensing fee before they'll touch the system. Better they know that up front.

This is no longer true. Licenses are now straight up non-transferable. Oracle says a big NO-NO to this. They've also done away with physical licenses (yesssss).

Really. So you cant buy a key on ebay? Or they just wont support it?

Well of course you can buy one on eBay, but they won't touch it or re-license it, because what you are doing is technically a violation of their terms.

That seems odd as the dealerships used to make a ton of money re-licensing. That must be a bummer for them

Weird. Out on west coast I used to hear it all the time. Oh well. Sounds like a good plan. That should shut down third party systems by a lot
