...Can this be done remotely on a Merlin Legend with an older software release? x770 is our Audix extension off of the main number.

You re-record from a touchtone phone - either attached to the system or from anywhere. Either dial in to the system and have someone transfer you to 770 - so you can access the admin mailbox - or press *7, and the admin mailbox number from the AA.
