The Access application is for a small office (less than 10 workstations). Every workstation will have Windows 7 and Office 2010. However, my plan is not to purchase Access 2010. Instead, Access 2010 (or 2007) run-time will be installed. I never used run-time distribution before, so here are my questions.
1. What kind of Access development tool do I (as a developer) need? My research on the internet found two options.
The first option is simple. All I need to do is to rename my application from the accde file to an accdr file. That accdr file will run on a workstation that has Access run-time installed already.
The second option is about using "Access Developer Extension." I guess that this option is for distributing to a workstation without Access run-time. The packaging tool combines the application file and access run-time together in one package. Am I right?
2. My application will be frequently updated. What I will do is to copy over the accdr file, just like the usual way of updating a front-end mde file. Is this right?
Thanks.
