Dear Expertise

Can anyone let me know how to connect local telophone line to CCM. What are the hardware required.

What i want if some make a call to my land line it will connect to my cisco IP phones rather than connecting to my normal phone.

Waiting for reply
Thanks

adding FXO port(s) to an existing MGCP gateway that is registered to your callmanager should work. (I have a 2621 router doing this).

Plug your POTS landline into the FXO port and configure that number on your cisco phone I assume

Firstly thanks very much for your reply. I am new to Cisco call manager. Can you let me know step by step procedure and complete required hardware.

I am using CCM 4.1.2 and i have 7 iphones for testing.All working fine. Please show me step by step procedure to complete the above task.

Thanks again.

do you have any existing voice gateways in place? if so what kind? in other words how do you presently send/receive calls from outside of your callmanager network, like to/from the outside world or the PSTN?

One way to do it:
1 - get a 2620 or 2621 router with a model NM-HD-2V DSP installed, converts analog to IP)
2 - get an analog FXO card installed on the router (model VIC2-4XO is what I have, allowas you to plug in analog lines into the router)
3 - configure the router through callmanager as an MGCP Gateway (i can help you with this when you get the hardware in place)
4 - plug your analog/POTS line into the FXO port on the gateway
5 - configure your IP phone with the phone number of your analog POTS line.

Should be all you need to get this working

Great Excellent i appreciate your expertise. I will purchase asap. Once i purchased i will let you know. Please keep on eye on this question. I will let you know soon.

Once again thanks for your tips. Thank you very much

I got PIX firewall 501 can i use this router instead of 2620 or 2621 router?

Thanks

I have currently no gateways. Basically i have installed ccm 4.1.2, the only device attached to this ccm 4.1.2 are the ip phones.

Please reply to my above questions.

Thanks Have a good weekend to everyone.

i dont believe the PIX firewall will work here. i wouldnt use it anyway, i would get a dedicated gateway device like a 26XX router.

You can research any cisco gateway device that can be configured for MGCP and also allows analog/fxo trunks and you should be good

Can you please let me know where to purchase these products. I live in Australia.

Hi MG2005

I have enquired with cisco they given me following information.

1. The NM-HD-1V, NM-HD-2V, and NM-HD-2VE are supported on the Cisco 2600XM series, Cisco 2691, Cisco 3631, Cisco 3640, Cisco 3660, and Cisco 3700 series routers.

2. The NM-1V and NM-2V are available for use on Cisco 2600 series, Cisco 3600 series, and Cisco 3700 series routers.

Please let me know which is the correct model. 1 or 2

Thanks

Almost anything from 1750 router on up support voice cards.
I use a 2620 with a NM-HD-2V and 2 VIC-2FXO's for PSTN access in my lab. This would give you 4 ports for PSTN access. You could split it and put a VIC-2FXS in place of one of the FXO cards if you want analog ports from the CallManager for Fax's, etc.
The 2620 has been EOL I believe, the 2620XM is the newer model, more memory capacity. Both units are supported in CCM for MGCP gateways. If you've got the $$$ go with the 2620XM. You could also put in a T-1/E-1 module for a PRI.
You should be able to find dozens of places on the web to purchase these pieces new or used.

yeah i have a few 2620XM's and they are solid, will work well for you. I would get any 26xx or 26xxXM as oppsed to a 17XX router, the functonality outweighs the cost difference.

Its flexible so as long as you get a voice supports router/gateway and an analog fxo port of some kind you are in business

Thanks for reply

Does NM-HD-2V support 2620. The cisco provide me the below information.

==========================================================

==========================================================

I am confused please advice whether NM-HD-2V support 2620.

Yes. The cards that are supported in the 2620 are supported in the 2620XM and vise-versa. The NM-HD-2V is a large plugin module that is necessary to provide slots for the VIC-2FXS or VIC-2FXO cards. It also supplies the DSP's necessary to support the VIC cards.

Thanks please keep on eyes on this thread. I will purchase asap. I need help after i purchase the above required hardware.

Thanks

What is the minimum hardware configuration for cisco 2620 router?

Does the below hardware work? I cannot afford NM-HD-2V
module and 2620XM its very expensive.

Cisco reseller suggested the below hardware. If you guys say yes i will purchase it?

======================================================
Cisco 2620 router @ 695.00 ex GST
Choose either:
1. NM-1V @ 495.00 ex GST
2-Channel Voice Network Module
2. NM-2V @ 675.00 ex GST
4-Channel Voice Network Module

Choose either:
1. VIC2-2FXO @ 610.00 ex GST
Two analog ports for PSTN
1. VIC2-4FXO @ 995.00 ex GST
Four analog ports for PSTN
======================================================

Please let me know. Thanks for assistance.

Kam-

those parts are all relative to each other. If you want 4 analog lines, get the VIC2-4FXO. if you want 2 lines, get the VIC2-2FXO.

Depending on which FXO card you get, choose the appropriate/corresponding Net module (NM-1V for the 2FXO card, or NM-2V for the 4 FXO card)

MG

No, No, No, the VIC2-FXO's will NOT work in the 2620. They are for the new ISR or 1760 router lines. You need VIC-2FXO's. 2 port maximum per card 2 cards maximum. And you HAVE to have the NM-HD-2V module. That's where you plug in the FXO's. If this reseller was going to sell you a 2620 and VIC2-FXO's without the NM-HD-2V module, find a new reseller. Find one that knows what it takes to make this work.

Thanks once again for both of you for assisting me.

Can you please tell me is this work.
======================================================
1.(Cisco NM-2V Voice Network Module with 2 of VIC-2FXO
daughter cards installed.

2. Router :: Cisco 2620
Qty Description
1 10/100 Ethernet Port
2 Wic Slots
1 Network Module Slot
1 32MB DRAM
1 8MB Flash
=======================================================
Because resellers are making confused to me. Can i purchase above? Is this work?
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Or shall i purchase
=======================================================
1. Cisco NM-HD-2V Voice Network Module
2. VIC-2FXO
3. Router :: Cisco 2620
Qty Description
1 10/100 Ethernet Port
2 Wic Slots
1 Network Module Slot
1 32MB DRAM
1 8MB Flash
=======================================================
Please let me know asap. I would like to go ahead soon. Awaiting for your advise.

Either should work. I would suggest you upgrade the DRAM to 64 and the flash to 16. Those are the maximum the 2620 will support. You can buy these upgrades on EBay relatively cheaply but be sure to buy the memory that Cisco supports if this is a production environment. If it's in a Lab type environment, go cheap.
