I'm having no luck getting SMI installed on various PC's. I am getting several errors of "cannot connect to server" after I have successfully logged on to SMI. I'm running SMI using VMWARE as I cannot install the product on any of my other PC's directly. The SMI install seems to go okay however when logging into SMI I get errors relating to memory / exception errors. This has happened on 5 PC's that I have tried to install this product.

The version I'm running is "NORTEL NETWORKS SYSTEM MANAGEMENT INTERFACE FOR SYMPOSIUM CALL CENTER SERVER VERSION 4.00 (BUILD 04.01.07) REV 6"

Does Nortel have any newer version to support Symposium 4.5?

Thanks in advance,
Stuart

Correction: Current version of Symposium is 5.0 (not 4.5)

Web Client is not functional when building out a new call centre due the allowable screen resolution and the terminal services session that expires when you need to jump out to other links within Symposium (CDN, Agents, etc etc). You then need to re-login every time you leave the scripting section.

SMI allows me to open various scripts, see a great deal more than what Web Client allows.

Web client is suited for day to day administration.

I'm not familiar with VMWARE functionality, but the client application you are installing is a 2-part installation. Once it installs Sybase Open Client, it must reboot and finish populating that before going any further. If that does not happen, you will get errors and the software will not work.

You might try installing Sybase Open Client first separately. It is in a folder on the software CD named ASE12CLT. Take the defaults, let it reboot and populate. When that is done, install the client software. It will just skip the Sybase portion.
