(request.queryString) howto NOT repeat vars?

Hello,

I just wanted to know how to take out certain vars?

Example -

url: ?id=1

hyperlink:
?(request.queryString)&newLink=1

If I keep clicking this link, it keeps repeating my newLink=1 value. My goal is NOT repeat this value.

set some condition on the event of the click
then check that condition (true/false etc..) on the click event or other events that can happen to see if the user has previously acted
