Does anybody use the following - sorry I am new to Netbackup so if terminology is incorrect I appologise in advance.
Netbackup Datacenter on Solaris 2.8 -- Mutliple Media servers are 4800 or 4500 servers connected via a brocade switch to 3 LTO drives on each Media Server.
I will be backing up 22x Netware 6 machines with about 2TB of data. They will all be 4xP4 1.6Ghz
The Netware machines will have a dedicated 1Gb ethernet card and the Sun machine will have 2x1Gb cards aggregated into a 2Gb link.
I am interested in backup performance.
How fast is the netbackup client on Netware?
What are the bottle necks ?
Does the Media server do any processing on the data other than receive the packet on the 2Gb pipe and then write it to the LTO drive via the HBA card.
What are peoples experiences with LTO's . I have used DLT and if the data does arrive quickly enough the DLT's stop and rewind adding to the performance degradiation.
Sorry for asking so many questions but any info would be appreciated
