I have seen this possible task come via our sales guy. Any comments, pitfuls to look out for. I realise that it will not be a quick task. First impression is that there will actually be a couple of upgrades involved because of the age.

I wouldn't even consider trying it, I would build it as new.

I agree with sandyml. Buy new server and build from scratch. You would need to migrate over multiple operating systems as well as mulitple steps from 1.5 to 3 to 4.2 to 5 to 6.

You can still leave the 1.x server on line with one client to pull report data from it if the call center insists on having access to old data.

I would also agree...using a pre-SCCS 3.0, you might as well build a NEW 6.0 system and start fresh...cleaner, less issues, and easier to ensure the database won't cause you headaches from the multiple migrations required.
