Hi

I am back!. Thanks for earlier guidance. The hit counter is still to be incorporated(my previous question about 2 months back.) The site (address in signature) has been rebuilt again and again and underwent lot of changes. Still I dont know, if I have completed sizable percentage. That is because, the nature of the site is so and I will keep adding a lot more topics.

However, comments can be passed and it is at this stage now. I would appreciate comments and welcome criticism.

If any one is testing the code by viewing source, please remove the first one or two lines of code which the site owners insert.

The site address is in my signature. This is my leisure time project and so would request any one commenting, to do so at your real free time. I would keep checking this and listen to comments over a week or two atleast. Thanks.

Perhaps go with static fox pictures rather than the dancing one's - you don't want to go giving anyone a seizure and they distract the user away from your content.

Also, try to bring more content onto the front page - perhaps a summary of the last three FAQ entries, so that people have more of an idea of what lies beyond. The title banner on the front page is way too big... on smaller screens it will push the content out of the way.

Explain your code more... If I was searching for FoxPro information, I'd prefer a simple algorithm explained well with a small amount of source code to get me started over a complete solution that was all code.

Thanks dwarfthrower.

1. Title is bigger is a good point. The sooner I could add some more lines to the body, I will make that smaller.

2. Adding some description as explanation is in my agenda and I will be changing one by one to article format. But that will take some time. Any reasonable VFP programmer will be able to understand as it is and use the code. SO I am not worried that much as of now. But your point is well taken and I will introduce details.

3. The front page info is being thought over and is bothering me a little. I dont want to add last few additions etc... But may be last 15 days new additions can be hinted in the first page. But that will make my first page needing modification all the time.

Let me wait and see what more other members can suggest. Thanks for your input.

Nice FoxPro reference. I worked mainly in FoxPro for a summer, so I can appreciate the code there. :)

(a) I would reiterate dwarfthrower's comment about the "dancing" images. Your site appears to have information geared at programmers, and dancing images, in my opinion, are geared towards young children.
(b) I would assume that the popup is beyond your control? :)
(c) When looking through the FAQs, it appears that you're answering broad questions with specific code (but that might just be me). I would provide brief descriptions underneath the broad headers, such as:

[ul]
[li]Database
[ol][li]Utility to Rebuild CDX Index Files.
[ul][li]Context of your solution[/li][/ul]
[/li][/li]
[/ul]

Either that, or have a bit more description BEFORE they click on the FAQ. If I was a visitor to your site, I would probably not peruse the FAQ unless I was specifically looking for something, and you want people to be sure that you have it. Unless, of course, you're relying on Google to send people directly to your code pages. :)

Good job, keep up the good work...

RJ

Thanks RudeJohn.

As I mentioned earlier, I will introduce the details. What you have mentioned as mini description in the lead page will be the first job, even before the individual topics are converted to narrative pages.

I have registered for the google search and few other search engines, but still cant figure out the rankings. Right now, when I search in some way, it comes within the first 10 while in few different ways of search it doesnt appear. I have to learn a lot !

Thanks for your evaluation and encouragement. :)

Hi

1. The brief explanation of individual topics (link area) have since been completed.
2. The title size has been reduced.
3. The static images are not yet done. I am thinking over some other way of image display as a centre watermark image.. or just simply do away with images. Some more observation by experts and messages I receive from the site visitors are being listened by me. Will take action after a while.

Individual topics will soon be rewritten in an article form, rather than as code, as it exists now.

I am not sure if the Tek-Tips linking is working perfectly. I have doubt because, my cookies will always take me with the handle I have. I dont know Join Now etc are working. :)
