Hi

Have windows2000sp4 running sqlserver2000sp3.
I created a maintenance plan in the enterprise manager and none of the jobs run. They all fail within 2 seconds with the same error:

"The job failed. The job was invoked by User (domain\administrator). The last step to run was setp 1.)

The event viewer shows the same error message.

Any advice?

try changing the owner in the job to sa just to test. Do this by double-clicking the job and changing the owner on the first screen.

Seems to be a permissions issue with the account that is currently set on the job. It may now have rights to run the job or maybe an embedded stored procedure w/in the job or a host of other issues.

Thanks

I tried using sa and got the same response.

I did notice that even though I explicitly specified one particular database I wanted to maintain in the wizard, all of the jobs that were automatically created were trying to maintain the wrong database.

I edited the job and picked the correct database when clicking the EDIT button. When I tried to run the job again, I got the same error.

I went back into the job and this time clicked the PARSE button on the screen that displayed the code. It re-parsed the command and then the job run successfully.

How odd.
