Hi ALL, i dont have crystal enterprise setup, but was wondering if you can connect to any database through the repository, without the need for crystal enterprise.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Your question does not make any sense. The repository is a database used to store common objects that can utilized by many CR's and CE.

What is your objective?

I have not got my hands on CR10 yet, but it is my understanding that starting with version 10, the Repository is part or Crystal Enterprise now. With that being said, I assume that yo uwould need to have Crystal Enterprise 10 set up to make use of the Repository.

Again, I haven't played with 10 yet, so if I am wrong on this, please let me know.

Yes, I know that, but the question was explicitly posed for CR10.

In CR9, the Repository was introduced and was installed with Crystal Reports.

From what I have understood about 10, is that Repository no longer installs with Crystal Reports, it belongs to CE now. In order for a CR10 Report Developer to access the Repository, CE10 would have to be installed somewhere and you would need access to that.

No problem. I reread my post and I can see how you could have misunderstood it. Sorry for the confusion.
