SQL 2000 has an add-on availble called Reporting Services that, so far in my evaluation/use, is more powerful than Crystal Reports, but has a steep learning curve. Otherwise, you can map a SQL table in Access and use Access' report capabilities.
Narizz28 is correct in his statement that Reporting Services is the way to go. As for the learning curve, I have taught over a dozen folk on its use and they have picked it up very quickly. Especially if they have had Crystal experience. It is much easier to use than Crystal an if you already own a copy of SQL Server 2000, you can obtain Reporting Services FREE! Just download it and go. You will have to use Visual Studio to create the reports and there are some other setup requirements that must be met, so in some cases, another option of reporting SQL Server data may need to be sought.
Do you if anyone has set up an RS forum here yet? I haven't found one and was thinking about getting one created. MS's discussion group is too flodded to effectively use.
I have seen several post in the various SQL Server forums asking just that question. I do not beleive one has been created yet but I am all for it! Reporting Services, in mu opinion, warrents its own for just like DTS, Analysis Services and SQL Server Programming and Admin/Setup. This will even be more evident when SQL Server 2005 rolls out and each of these areas will be part of the BI initiative.
