Reports with constantly changing filter criteria

Hello,
I've searched through the threads, but did not see a solution similar. Any direction would be greatly appreciated.

I have a large database in which I would like to choose the criteria for the report, but I'm having trouble making this simple.

For example, I may have a table that has:

Name
Address
Rank
Class A
Class B
Class C

And so on. I am trying to set up a report which allows me to check how the report will be filtered. For example, I may want all the records in the report, I may want only Rank X, I may want Rank X and everyone who is not Class A, and all Class B, etc. It continually changes.

I have been able to set up reports that give me all the data, or reports that prompt for every field, but I only want to have to put in the information for the fields I want to filter.

I'm thinking along the lines of some kind of form that I can check off what the filters would be, but I'm not sure if I'm headed in the right direction.

You are on the right track. Create a form that will allow for criteria specification and open it in the report open event in dialog mode. The form should have a command button that will set it's visible property to 'No'....This will return control to the report open event. You can then refer to the (hidden) form control values in your report data source query. Don't forget to close the criteria form in the report close event. Hope this helps.
