Reports print to random trays in HP5000 Laserjet

Greetings all, I am hoping that your collective expertise will be able to help me solve a dilemma....

I have a report that when printed, will print from different trays on the printer. I have set the printer driver to select letter size paper from only 1 tray, but that setting seems to be superceded by the application.

Is there an escape sequence or something I can use to force the output to a particular tray? i.e. ^trayin 5 or something? Thanks in advance for your time.
