Hey guys

I need to create a custom report based off of certain fields in Goldmine. I need to create a sales report that filters certain records. Any ideas or know an easier way to do this? I found that Goldmine 6.0 is very difficult to customize reports.

Thanks,
Dave

i would always recommend using a 3rd party application like crystal or access - these are the 2 which i use anyway, but there are more.

What fields did you need to report on, because if its a basis report then goldmine should work fine.

Good recommendation. How can I access the Goldmine databases using Access? I need to access the Code field, Success field, the Opportunity and Project field for each customer.

Thanks,

Dave

to view the opportunity manager you will need to link the the OpMgr table.

I do not use projects, but i think that information is stored within the same table...

In the opp table goldmine creates 2 records for each opportunity create, I have the sql code to just get the correct information out, i will dig it and and post it.

Then you will need the contact1, contact2, contsupp, and conthist, if there is information stored in these tables that you require to be displayed....

I use access as my main access to goldmine and do all my in house reports through this. I can send you and example if you want!!!

I also have some code to change the database that you are linked to. We have about 80 database in house, i know goldmine is only intended to use 2-3, but we are different.

I have so much code that would help you, just let me know.

Hi

I too am looking for a way to create very customized reports in GM 6.0 however...we only run the DB4 version here. No SQL. Being that I'm not a DB programmer and have limited SQL Query knowledge...is there an easy way to do this? Should I use Access as well? Any help would be appreciated.

TIA

I would some examples. We too are using Dbase database. I was wondering can I link a table from Goldmine to Access with a read only setting without causing any problems to the Goldmine database?

Thanks

what i do is link the tables from goldmine to access, and i also link the spfiles table within the gmbase folder, this gives you the list of databases that are available via goldmine, this way you are able to re-link to another goldmine database via some code i wrote...

because you are not meant to put email address onto this website it is hard to get you to email me with your email address so i can send you an example that i have produced.

so he is mine kevin dot redfern at gmail dot com - i hope that helps.

Then i can send you an example and talk through it more clearly with you how to set it all up etc. This will obviously depend on what tables you need to link to that you require displaying on the report...

Look forward to hearing from you both soon.

We use sql backend at the moment, but most of my access file where create for use with a dbase backend, i just had to alter them slightly - and i must ammit they do work faster in sql but dbase is just as good and you get the same end results for the users.
