Hi:
I need a text box that can hold 500 characters. Therefore, I created 2 text boxes with 255 characters each. There is a possibility that both text boxes will be used in every instance.

Therefore, in a report is there a way to supress the blank text box. The report will have records that uses both the text boxes or only one. The report comes off a query.

Any help is appreciated.
Paul

Text boxes can display (the don't store anything) pages of characters. I'm not sure why you think you need two text boxes.

"supress the blank text box" what do you need to suppress if the text box is blank? Are you seeing something that you don't want to see?

Duane:
My mistake, I had two fields (Comments and Comments1) in the table with the data type as text. When I run a query, it returns with 5 records and in one of the records (5th record) the Comments field is blank. In the report the 5th record has a blank space, and I would like to see the field not appear in the report when its blank.

I tried "IS NOT NULL" in the query but then the 5th record has information in the rest of the fields.

I hope I made it clear. Thanks

First, did you set the control to Can Shrink: Yes?

You might also be able to use a single text box with a control source of:
=Comments & " " & Comments1
Make sure the name of the text box is not the name of a field.

Also, is there a reason why you didn't use a single memo field?

Thanks, Duane. It worked. I did not know what the Shrink function was all about. To answer your question, the memo section might run to 500 characters and I thought a field cannot exceed 255. Is there a way to get around this without breaking it into 2 fields?

Instead of a 'text' data type in the table, you may wish to use 'memo'.
