Anyone, I have a report where I'm grouping the data in ascending order by groups of 4 based on employee number, which is 1..200. However, the order comes out scrambled.(ex. 1..2..4..3..5..6..8..7..11..9..12..10..15..14..13..16..19..18..20..17 and on and on) Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure I fuuly understand yur problem but here is a couble of suggestions.

Verify the sort order of the query generating the data needed for the report. Make sure it is presenting the data in the order needed.

Verify the Sorting and Grouping order on the report itself through the View, Sorting and Grouping menu options.

Your third option is to provide more info with an expanded example. I'll watch and respond if I can help.

Good Luck

Thanks for the response ssecca. I'm not sure how to further describe the problem. However, if you create a table and add a numeric field called "emp id" with the values 0 through 200. Then create a report and try to group the data by sets of 4 in ascending order let me know what happens. I know this seems trivial, but I can't get it to work. Just wondering if it's something I'm doing or a function of Access. I'm using access 97 and I'm not sure if this is creating the problem.
