reports from ASCII-delimited text files

Is it possible to generate reports against ASCII-delimited text files?

I'm using VB6 and Crystal Reports 8.5, and planning to use a remote DB (MySQL). To increase the performance, the application will update the *.dat files in some interval, and have CR generate reports against them. That's the plan anyway.

Any advise will be be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Sure, Crystal can use delimited files, just set up an ODBC Microsoft Text data source, remember to click the Options->Define Format when doing so.
