Sometimes when I close an open report without saving it, the Reports 9i release 2 just crash.
Anybody had similar problem? Is there a fix?

Also, sometimes Reports 9i Data Wizard (query editor)accepts the SQL syntax based on Oracle 9i DBMS SQL standard (e.g. WITH ... SELECT ... FROM) and sometimes it is simply "stubborn" and can only accept SELECT .. WITH ... SELECT ... syntax and not WITH ... SELECT ... FROM ... syntax (which it could few times before when I tried with other similar reports!?). Can the change on Reports server side be the cause of this? Query editor seems to be very sensitive on the type of text formatting. What exactly is the format it accepts (I use TextPad for editing and also PL/SQL Programmer but had same problem of acceptance via cut/paste. Same query cut/pasted in SQL*Plus runs with no problem so the SQL syntax is not the problem, just formatting)

Oracle Reports is notorious for crashing. When taking Reports 6i clas from Oracle, we were officially warned to save our job often. Even now, with dozens of patches released for 6i, it is still crashed at least several times a day. I don't think in Reports 9 the issue is addressed properly.
The TextPad can supply UTF characters. Make sure you are not inserting 16-bit characters into the query window.Sometimes it creates extra garbage symbols not seen in the window but giving rise to error when executing the query.

I checked setup in TextPad, it is ANSI encoding and the format is PC. I even used trial verison of TOAD Formatter and cut/paste from there but still the problem persists, I get error ORA-00972, i.e. Reports Builder parser could not parse the WITH query correctly, but if the query starts with SELECT then everything is OK...strange thing

As I said earlier, SELECT ... syntax works (including SELECT .... WITH ... SELECT ...) but WITH ... SELECT pops up error message ORA-0942 non-existing table. The strange thing is that WITH ... SELECT ... was parsed successfully on few other reports. The point is I copy/paste the query into SQL*Plus and it parses/executes with no problem
