reports and VS2005

We have CRM3 on SQL 2000. I tried to create a report using VS2005, when I went to import the report I received an invalid format error. I found out this is due to sql 2000 srs not compatible with vs2005.

If we do not want to upgrade our CRM to SQL 2005 my only choice it to purchase VS2003?

Yes you need to load up VS 2003 and the appropriate report addin.
