Hi everyone,

I'd like to know how to integrate PowerPlay cubes in reportnet 8 (step by step).

Thank you for your help.

Regards

As with all Cognos applications there are step by step instructions in the manuals provided woth your installation.

I would suggest you read these manuals.

I didn't find documentation showing how to use Powerplay cubes in Reportnet.

Could you give me the title of this manual?

this method shows how to import a powerplay cube in reportnet but it's not exactly what I want to do.

With reportnet 8 you can create a connection to a cognos cube .

But after, I don't understand how to use it perhaps in the Framework Manager or in Analysis Studio? I don't know if it's possible.

In Framework Manager, use the 'Run Metadata Wizard' option and select the data source you defined for your cube. This will guide you through the process of publishing a package for your cube. Once this has been done, you can use Query Studio, Analysis Studio or Report Studio with this package.

MF.

Can we able to publish the cube to the cognos8 reportnet
and can open with the powerplay web explorer?
I know that we can use analysis studio but administrator is saying we didnt buy that.

Yes, just as you could for ReportNet. You need to set the properties of PowerPlay Enterprise Server to publish into a folder in Cognos Connection on the Cognos 8 server. This means that the cube will only be available through PowerPlay Web, though, not in Query Studio, Report Studio, Analysis Studio or Event Studio.

MF.

Hi Draoued,

Yes you are right - as long as you have published the cube in a package from c8 Framework Manager, as I detailed earlier in the thread. In this case vsrgvk1980 wanted to be able to open the cube in PowerPlay Web Explorer, which means the cube must be published in PowerPlay Enterprise Server, then a link to it published from PPES into Cognos Connection. Using this method only, the cube is not available for use in the c8 studios, as they do not work with Series 7 PPES.

Hope that made sense! :)

Best regards,

MF.

Hi mfgf
Thanks for your valuble suggestions.I have one more question now.
If we publish cube as a package thru framework manager and if there is no analysis studio, then can't we access the cube thru powerplay web explorer?

Thanks

Hi vsrgvk1980,

If you just publish the cube from Framework Manager and not from PPES, you will be able to use it in Query Studio, Report Studio, Analysis Studio (although you do not have it currently), and Event Studio, but not in PowerPlay Web.

If you just publish the cube from PPES and not from Framework Manager, you will be able to use it in PowerPlay Web but not in the c8 studios.

If you do both, you will be able to use the published cube from PPES in PowerPlay Web and the published cube package from Framework Manager in the c8 studios.

Hope that helps,

MF.
