hi

I think this is not possible, but still a qestion if someone has done this!

I created a reportnet package called Testpack. The queries are designed using that package. Now I renamed the package to SalesPack. The queries wont work!

[The reports designed using the TestPack are opened and connected to new package, its fine.]

Anyway, I can point the queries to SalesPack from TestPack??

thanks.

Hi spicysudhi,

You can open a report in Report Studio (ignore the message saying it can't find the package), then from the menubar, go to Tools/Copy Report to Clipboard.

Start up a Wordpad session, and paste in the XML of the report, then look for the embedded package name (Testpack) in the XML and change it to your new package name (Salespack). You should be looking at the second line of code usually, probably looks something like <modelConnection name="/content/package[@name='Testpack']/model[@name='model']"/>

From Wordpad, select the amended XML of the report, then back in Report Studio, from the menubar go to Tools/Open Report from Clipboard.

Save the report, and you're done.

Best regards,

MF.

Another thought too. If you're talking about Query Studio reports, it seems to work if you move the reports into the new package folder in Public Folders, then remove the old package folder, then open the reports in Query Studio. As each report opens, Query Studio links them into the new package.

Best,

MF.

Another way for Report Studio.
Open the report in Report Studio, ignore the error message about package not found.
In menu File/Model connection ... select the Package name you want to use, and click OK.

thanks for suggestions.

ReportStudio: I dont have problem as i mentioned earlier, i was doing as Draoued mentioned.

QueryStudio: The queries saved in my folders are the problems. They point to the specific package and when package is dropped, it gives the message something like "package cannot be found, check with your administrtor". [i have not tried moving queries to new package folder. even if this works, this doesnt solve my problem where queries are saved in user's personal folders. and unfortunatelly there is no option to see the personal folder's of other users]

thanks.

Sudhi
