Hi,
I have installed reportnet1.1MR2, PPES 7.3 and transformer 7.3 on an AIX 5.2 platform. The machine was empty and it is a dedicated cognos server. The contentstore is located on an oracle datbase and all the processes are running under user Cognos. No errors in any logfile during startup.
The problem is that almost every action i preform in the content manager, results in a timeout.
I found that after starting the reportnet services a netstat -a|grep 9300 returned 5 entries. What i noticed was that when i made a folder via the content manager, ervery 30? seconds 2 new entries were added, until 20 entries... the entries looked like this:
tcp4 servername:9300 servername:40350
tcp4 servername:40350 servername:9300
tcp4 servername:40350 servername2:1521
the portnumbers in the 40350 range were increase by 2. This took 5 minutes and all the time the content manager was waiting for results and finaly a dispatcher timeout occured. According to the customer there is no firewall.
My questions:
1. What (Cognos)process or service interacts with the port range 40000 or higher, between the tomcat application server and the database?
2. Has anyone seen this before and better: how did you solve this?
thanks!
