Hi Everyone,

I wondered whether anyone had done this upgrade yet? I just have and seem to have two major problems since then.

1 - When users run prompted reports (9 prompts in all) they are getting a DNS error part way through. I am not! It is definitely machine related, because I log on as Admin on their machine and get the same problem. I have had networking people looking at it and no answers so far.
Any one any ideas? Could it be a config setting that i have changed as a result of the upgrade?
I am using SSL...

2 - Existing reports with cascading propmts now require the upper level to "select all" to progress to the next level of the prompt.

Regards
Jeannette

1- Doubt that's it due to the upgrade.
2- You shouldn't need to 'select all'. My cascading prompts don't require this after the upgrade.

FYI, as this thread suits this next bit of info ..

When upgrading, it is highly recommended that you uninstall the old build and then install MR1. Keep in mind that you will need to back up all of your customized files as overlaying the product will overwrite the older customized files.

Flex...

Is it documented anywhere that Cognos Strongly recommends this? I created a case with them and that IS what the person recommended, however he didn't mention anything about "strongly" recommending it for any particular reason, he actually said it shouldn't make a difference if you want to perform a parallel install...

Sometimes it depends on who you talk to, I know, I'm just trying to see if there's something that you have found out that I haven't and should know about before upgrading to MR2

Thanks for any input...

It is not documented just a 'best practice' if you will. The strong recommendation comes from BOTH Development and Product Management which is voiced by Support. I have upgraded many installs using both techniques and haven't run into any problems either way. When running in parallel you just have to watch out for conflicting ports and incorrect virtual directories.
