We are in the process of trying to move off of our old Citrix server (NT Server 4.0 box with MF1.8 installed). We have configured our shiny new PS4 servers (2 App and 1 Web for now) and installed a few apps for testing. We started from scratch and built a completely new farm in the process.

My boss wants me to run some sort of report on the MF1.8 server to see who's using it and what apps they're really using and how often. I know I can cruise the Event Logs to get an idea of who and how often people are logging in, but is there a way (other than sitting there watching the server) to report on the apps? I've searched around and can't find anything. Our goal is to get an idea of what really needs to go on our new servers. We plan to grow our farm in 2006 to accomodate more apps, but don't want to install unnecessary apps that people really aren't using at this time. Any ideas?

Could be a bit complicated. Unless you had resource manager.

unfortunately we dont't (that I can tell). for now, i've just been doing the manual method of polling the application specialists to see who really is using and who isn't. i stressed the Resouce Manager feature for the new server and trying to see if there are classes for that - aside from the Admin Guide stuff I've been reading. i've poked around a bit, but not finding it as intuitive as i would like. i really want to be able to utilize this feature when we go live with the new servers.

any suggestions for getting better acquainted?
