Report Writer vs the report in the IDE pros and cons question 1

Report Writer vs the report generator in the IDE. Can you tell me which is better to use from a developers stand point with pros and cons?

Hi Emad,

Reports in APP

- Requires a Compile every time you add/change a Report
+ More flexibility for complicated reports

Reports in Report Writer

+ Can add/change reports w/o a compile
- Since you cannot embed code, the flexibility is limited

If you can purchase a 3rd party, I would suggest you check out

which will you the best of both worlds.

Since the report writer looks more simple, I was thinking about just seting a setting the filter for the report from my program before calling it.

Hi Emad,

If you have decided to go the Report writer way, make sure you study the examples in the Clarion6\Examples\RWExampl folder. They are all hand coded projects.
