Crystal Reports V9
Oracle DB

I have successfully run my report in Crystal Enterprise.

The first page is displayed fine but I get the following error message when I try to view the 2nd page (Containing graphs) through Crystal Report Viewer (or ePortfolio) but when I preview the report through Enterprise or in Crystal Reports it's ok.

"CrystalReportViewer
Unable to connect: incorrect log on parameters. File ~ced283ae387b1a46.rpt.
Unable to retrieve Object.
Unable to connect: incorrect log on parameters. File ~ced283ae387b1a46.rpt"

I have searched through all the forums and although this is quite a common error, I'm not able to find a solution.

The CE services (the pageserver, jobservers etc) are running under a domain account that has access rights to the location of this database.

I've checked and double-checked and it has the correct DB logon information, which if it's pulling the initial information must be correct?

Any suggestions would be most appreciated as this is starting to drive me mad!
Cheers, Ian

Hi,
Is there a subreport involved ( perhaps for the Graph)?

Yeah, that's correct. I'm passing Running Totals to a sub-report so I can chart on them. Have you encountered something like this before?

Thnx, Ian

Hi,
Sometimes the database info is not passed to the subreport
when the report is published( it is, in many respects, just like a separate report that needs its login info set..)-
In the CMC, check the database settings ( especially if the subreport uses a different data source).

Thnx again for the reply Turkbear.

The report uses the same data source in the subreport as the main report so I'd have thought that this was ok as I can't see anywhere where it asks for different details for the sub-report.

To give you more details on this report, I'm trying to Chart on print-time formulas which Crystal won't allow me to do so I'm kinda following the details from this paper.

I'm passing running totals to the 3 sub-reports for annual, quarterly and current figures, then charting on them in the sub-reports.

Thnx again for any assistance.
Ian

Have you checked that all your parameters are linked from the main to the subreport? Or when you run it from crystal reports do you see a parameter prompt prefixed with a question mark (ie ?-Name)

Hi rajeshgooner, thnx for yr reply.

The parameters are linked ok as they are appearing as ?-Name type values that I'm using ok within the sub-report however as I'm passing data in the format:

98.5% (AVAILABILITY)1.5% (UNAVAILABILITY)

there's nothing I need to link to in the subreport therefore nothing under the 'Select Data in sub-report based on field' option. Is this an issue?

The data are running total values that I'm passing to the sub-report in order to chart on them.

Thnx again for any advice/suggestions

When you pass the running totals to the subreport, do you find that you cannot chart on them directly? I had this problem and had to create separate formulas for the parameters that were passed in and chart off them.

Does the account under which the crystal services run have administrative access over that domain? how are you connecting to the database? ODBC or native?

Did you manage to sort the problem out and if so, what did you do?

Yeah, same sort of thing. I pass the totals to the sub-report but have created formuals which are basically the parameters passed through. This allows me to chart on them, however I still have this same issue although I have found that if it hit F5 to refresh the report the correct values are displayed. Although this is a work-around I still need to get to the bottom of this...

All the Services are running under administrative accounts.

I am connecting to the Oracle Database using the 'Oracle Server' connection.

This is really driving me mad, as it seems such a simple thing to do!! ;-)

Thnx in advance for any help or advice, IanG
