I have a report with a subreport that was running fine as I was building it. I made a few changes to the report...drew some lines and a box and added a couple text boxes, all on the main report and saved it.

The next time I tried to run it the ODBC failed before it finished...it was running about 10 minutes before it failed (timed out?)

The report used to take about 30 seconds to open. Now for the 1st 30 seconds the status bar shows, "Running Query" and shows a staus bar (it does this twice) then the status bar goes to "Formatiing Page, oress cntl + break to stop" If I delete the subreport the main report runs fine. There is no formatting (that I'm aware of) on the subreport.

Is there anyway to resolve this? Are there just too many records? There are approx 59,000 records on the main form and the system is filtering through 20,000 sub records usually only returning 1 or 2 sub records for each main record.

The database resides on SQL Server but I don't know what version.

Access 2003 SP1

Thanks for your help!

I forgot to mention that I am using an ODBC connection.

Do you add a text box with Page of Pages?

Yes I did. Is that the culprit???

That was it! Here's a star. I'd give you more if I could :-D

Why does it do that? I know I've used it before. Is it the combination of the subreport and Page of Page?

Thank you VERY much!

Hillary

Your complete report must format prior to printing the first page in order to get the "Pages". This takes quite a while with lots of records and one or more subreports.
