I have a simple report based on a query. There are 4 fields from one table. No joins. The two criteria is: 1-Date Range and 2-Owner. There are 3 "users" of the database. When I run the report for 2 of the 3 users for 2004, the report runs perfectly. When the report is run for the 3rd user, the report hangs up and I have to use control+break to terminate the report. Here's the good part....the query runs perfectly for the 3rd user!!! So why does every record from 2004 show up on the query and the report hangs up?? I tried running the report at lunch when I was away for an hour and it was hung up when I returned from lunch? Do I need a service pack update? This is Access 2000.

It sounds like this is an issue with corruption. This might involve just a single record. You can try compact and repair. If that doesn't work, create a new blank mdb and import all the objects from your original MDB.

If you have a bad record, delete and re-enter it.

Unfortunately, neither methods worked. I also tried to "analyze" the table performance and the wizard added an index to the date field. That did not help either. There are only 2400 records in the .mdb. I also tried importing the database to a new database on my hard drive instead of the server. That did not work either.

And by the way, I checked every date in 2004. The dates that hang up are 6/10/2004, 9/9, 11/9, 11/16, 11/30, 8/6, 8/25, 8/30 and 2/19. The date field is a Date/Time datatype so there could not be invalid date formats in the field.

I doubt the date field is the issue. Do you have a memo field in the table? Have you found and viewed the records that are suspect?

Yes, 2 of the 4 fields in the query are memo fields! I checked some of the dates in questions and they have a lot of characters in them. Any suggestions?

OK. Problem solved. I changed the properties on the detail line of the report to "No" for "Keep Together"!!!!!!

Thanks for your input.
