I need to create a report that goes beyond the width of any printer i have. the report will not be printed - it will exported to excel. how do i increase the report width to 20 inches?

You can add a driver for a very wide printer. If you do a search you should be able to get some old threads on this.

Or you could get a PDF printer driver like CutePDF or PDFGenerator. These allow you to create a custom paper size of whatever you want and then when you select this as your "printer" CR will give you a design area that matches the custom width you set. This article has links to both tools:
