I am working on crystal report 8.0 connected to PostgreSQL running on Linux Server. I had succesfully created a report using the PostgreSQL database. But when I am trying to view the report through web browser it is prompting for user id and password. I had given my PostgreSQL datsbase userid and password, but I could not view the report. It is repeatedly prompting for the same.

Thanks in advance

I'm having the same problem while attempting to connect to an Oracle 8 DB on Windows 2000. The report works fine in Crystal Reports, but keeps prompting for my username and password on the web.

You should have an option within the Crystal Management Console under:

Objects->[Report Name]->Database Tab

Under the DB login settings there should be a checkbox for "Prompt the user for new value(s) when viewing". Make sure this is unchecked. The only reason you should be prompted is if the login specified in the database tab is incorrect.

I am also having this problem using an Oracle 8 database. The "Promt the user for new value(s) when viewing" checkbox is unchecked and the logon is correct but I still am prompted over and over for the login name and password.

Thanks

Randy

make sure you run the page server service under a valid domain account that has access to your various db's. And make this domain account member of the local admin group...

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually took a look at the FAQ page here and it has the solution for the problem I was having.

The ODBC DSN for my database was not set up as a system DSN so I just had to go into the ODBC Administrator and set it up as a system DSN and then everything worked fine. For more details, check the FAQ.

Thanks
