I am emailing a Crystal ".rpt" to a user and I'd like to allow them to double click it and open it using the ActiveX viewer in IE5.

Does anyone know if this can be done without installing Crystal on the client?

Try exporting the report so that you send it in HTML format.

Thanks for your suggestion. The only problem with this is that if the report is 50 pages long then I'll end up having to email 50 HTML documents to him. Also, I don't get all the ActiveX functions such as Export and Search etc.

The other option is to export it to PDF (using the new beta driver) but there are still a few bugs in this.

Any other ideas?

Use the Seagate Report Distribution Expert, this is not standard anymore in Version 8, so you'll have to down load the patch from Seagates website, the file name is scr8_distr_expert.exe.

This will create a file you can distribute.

Cheers

Marc
